Incorporation Lawyers in Alberta

Start your business on a solid legal foundation — with the key decisions thought through before anything gets filed.

Why we start with an Incorporation questionnaire

Incorporation is not just paperwork. It involves real legal decisions about ownership, control, share structure, and how your business will operate as it grows.

The questionnaire is how we work through those decisions properly before your corporation is registered. It allows us to understand your business, identify issues early, and apply legal judgment where it matters — instead of fixing problems later.

It takes most people about 15–20 minutes. There is guidance built in, and you don’t need every answer perfectly polished — but it is a meaningful first step, not a five‑minute form.

How The Incorporation Process Works

Step 1: Complete the Incorporation Questionnaire

Answer the key questions about ownership, control, and structure so we can build the corporation correctly from the start — with fewer follow-ups and no guesswork.

Step 2: Lawyer Review & Structure Check

We review your responses with legal judgment, flag what matters, and identify any issues that should be addressed before anything is registered.

Step 3: Legal Services Agreement, Retainer, & Initial Consult (Silver / Gold)

We prepare the Legal Services Agreement for the package you selected. If you chose Silver or Gold, this step also includes a consultation before anything is submitted.

Step 4: Corporation Registered

We register the corporation, prepare your minute book, and deliver the documents you’ll need to operate confidently and keep your records in order.

Put your silver / gold credit toward ongoing corporate maintenance

Most new corporations don’t run into trouble on day one — issues show up later, when your records don’t match what actually happened in the business. Our corporate memberships are $600/year, $900/year, or $1,400/year, depending on the level you choose — so the Silver/Gold credit ($500 / $800) meaningfully offsets your first year while you get established.

  • Annual returns and corporate upkeep handled on schedule
  • Minute book and corporate records kept current
  • Registered Office / Records Office support options
  • Preferential pricing and included consult time

What submitting the questionnaire does not do

Completing the questionnaire:

  • Does not register a corporation
  • Does not obligate you to proceed
  • Does not lock you into a structure

This step lets us review your information and outline next steps before anything is filed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the incorporation questionnaire take?

Most people complete it in about 15–20 minutes if they have their basic information handy. The questions are focused on ownership, control, and structure — not busywork. Guidance is built in to help you understand what’s being asked and why, so you’re not guessing blindly as you go.

What if I’m unsure about some answers?

That’s very common, especially for first‑time incorporators. You don’t need to have everything perfectly figured out. The questionnaire is designed to flag areas where structure choices matter, so we can identify what needs attention before anything is registered. Any legal advice or discussion beyond that depends on the package you select.

When is the corporation actually registered?

The corporation is only registered after we review your questionnaire, confirm the appropriate structure and pricing, and you sign the Legal Services Agreement and provide the retainer. Nothing is filed automatically or prematurely — registration happens only once everything is confirmed.

Am I committed once I submit the questionnaire?

No. Submitting the questionnaire does not obligate you to proceed. It allows us to review your information, identify any issues, and outline the appropriate next steps. You remain in control of whether and how you move forward after that review.
